Jim Hatfield FRICS graduated with a BSc in Building Surveying in 1975. He qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1978 and was elevated to Fellowship of the RICS in 1984. He has been in private practice since 1979. An expert in buildings, Jim has a comprehensive knowledge of building structures, history and conservation and enjoys the challenge of investigating and resolving problems. Dedicated to the profession, Jim is an Accredited Trainer for the RICS and has trained many Surveyors - confident that they have been well versed in their chosen profession. His enthusiasm carries through to his professional lectures and his hobbies – in his spare time he gives talks on naval and historical subjects and runs a steam lorry on rare days off. |

David Witcombe MRICS joined J J Hatfield & Co Ltd during his year's work experience for his degree in 2001. After gaining an Honours Degree in Building Surveying in 2003, he returned to the company to undertake the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 2006. The project used for David's Critical Analysis for the APC won the Sussex Heritage Trust Small Scale Residential Award in 2006 and involved two Regency style extensions to a Listed house within the Lewes Conservation Area. David has designed many extensions which have also required preparation of Schedules of Work and Contract Administration. He now specialises in the conversion of former farm buildings. In his spare time David enjoys travelling, fishing and taking trips in his boat. His travels have taken him to many countries including Uganda, The Congo, Australia, Thailand, Hawaii and plans a trip to Brazil. |
